KNIT THAT TREND: NEW BLOG.

Now as some of you may have guessed - I do rather like knitting. Before you mutter anything about it being boring, and that I need to get a life - sorry to be rude, but shut your mouths and listen.

Knitting is always perceived as a boring hobby - why? Well now lets see, maybe because:

  • Every Granny on earth (most probably) knits, and (most probably)at some point in your life tried to make you wear a horrifyingly embarrassing jumper that she had knitted for you especially.

Think cringe worthy Christmas jumpers - or something with an oversized knitted picture on it that never quite made sense.  - thus (most probably) giving you a negative impression of all things knit worthy.

  • There aren’t many cool things associated with knitting - unless you think a bunch of ‘old ladies’ clicking and clacking their needles together is somehow ‘cool’. - If you do, then well done dear - but you really ought to open your eyes to the world!
  • There is nothing particularly fashionable about knitting to the general public. Yes designers try and push it onto catwalks every now and then - but does it ever really seem to take over your life? No. Well at least last time I checked I didn’t see many people rocking the KNIT WIT trend.

Either way - like it or not  knitting has always been - and continues to be associated with all things boring.

So - why am I boring you with this? you ask.

**NEWS FLASH - KNITTING IS TRES COOL**

Believe me - TOMMY HILFIGER, HOUSE OF HOLLAND, CHANEL & ANNA SUI are a few fashionable names (of many) who sure do like knitwear in a good FW collection!

I am about to show you how knitting is fun, interesting and yes ill say it - ‘cool’.

Its part of a university assignment I have to do - not to make knitting fashionable again, but to begin a brand new topical blog. And I decided to choose knitting, because yes I think its cool (sorry that’s the last time ill say it! I promise).

The name of my new blog will be  ‘knit that trend’ - and it will focus on discussing how knitting is incorporated to high end runway fashion.

There will also be a few D.I.Y snippets on there so keep your eyes peeled if you like to be ahead of fashion!

There will be more info coming along soon - If there are any particular things you would like me to discuss on this new blog then feel free to send me a little message!

Needles at the ready.

So I don’t know where you are, or what the weather is like where you are. But where I am, we are having what they call an ‘Indian summer’. This means although I’ve already stashed my summer clothes safely under my bed in a suitcase I did NOT plan on opening until next spring, I have been forced to visit it already, in early October - whilst re starting my tanning regimes. (All of you avid readers of my blog will realise how much of an inconvenience this must be for me).

But this morning, the air is a little chillier, and I have heard through the grape vine that the fluffy clouds actually plan on delivering us some snow.

Really, I do not see why it has to be so drastic… from 30 degree heat you should expect in Spain (not Southampton) to snow you wouldn’t usually want to see until about the festive holidays. But I guess beggars should’nt be choosers.

So THANK YOU WEATHER MAN… because now I can (probably a little too enthusiastically) start my research on what kind of scarf I want to add to my winter wardrobe wish list. First of all… it is all about the knitted scarves (crocheted scarves are also cool - there is an exception for those thanks to Henry Holland) but it is mainly all about the knitted scarves. So here are a few inspirational photos I have collected from all over tumblr.

As you can see… I like pugs. A. LOT.

But on a more serious note… I meant to say ‘As you can see… I like chunky scarves’.

I think the idea of two smaller scarves together looks quite funky and rather alternatively funky but I’m pretty sure chunky scarves are the way forward for me. I like red - and I have three 400gram balls of rather nice red chunky wool at home. So I think I am going to have to make myself a cable knit chunky scarf for the winter. Which in much contrast to today’s weather, seems pretty pronto considering the happy little weather man on the news told me I should be expecting snow this month.

*Needles at the ready* *Get set* *GO*…

Will you be knitting a scarf this Winter… or would you rather play safe and buy one from Asos?
