Now we’ve all heard of the ombre dye look, and we’ve also all heard of nail art (with recent thanks to Katy Perry @ the VMA’s) But what happens when we put them both together? We get Ombre Nail Art - something we may not all of heard of. So let me fill you in on the deets…
So here is a picture of the first example of what ombre nails can look like:

Before you ask, YES it is as easy as it looks…
You simply need a few different shades of one particular colour (for example the picture above has various shades of red) and paint each nail a different shade in a shade sequence of light to dark or dark to light.
If you’d prefer your ombre nails to look a little more complex, then opt for this version:

Okay so I’m not going to lie, this one does take a little more time effort and patience than the last version, but it really does look worth it - don’t you agree?
You could take the easy way out and just go for a manicure - or if you dont have the funds, or even if you just want a go at doing it yourself then again, you will need to invest in a few different shades of nail polish that base around the same colour. Start off by painting on the lightest shade to each of your nails. Now, you will need to get the next shade darker and dab it onto the top half of your nail. Finish off by dabbing on the darkest shade onto the top quarter of your nail. Remember to wait for each layer to dry before you apply the next shade of colour. To blend them in you could rub the bottom of the new shade a bit with a cotton bud or some tissue. Wait for the final layer to dry and perfecto - you should have the look complete.
The best advice I have ever had about perfecting a ‘trade’ is that practice really does make perfect. So practice practice practice, and you will soon be worthy of joining the likes of Katy Perry, Lauren Conrad and Alexa Chung in this colourful nail art trend.
Do you agree that this look is worth celebrity status? Feel free to photo reply if you think youve perfected the look!
